There was a
time in the history of our species when men and women unable to fend for
themselves were considered vagrant and undeserving by those who ate pork
chops for breakfast. During the early part of the industrial revolution
it was probably easier to declare poverty illegal and then find
forgiveness or affirmation on Sunday through an idea of winnowing chaff
from corn.

Those early days of the
relationship between our species and industrial production were the grind
that turned the months of November and December into a desperate lather of
adulation which has so redefined the Human experience that I too have been
persuaded to Boycott Christmas.
