I will probably spend the remainder
of my days tidying the barn. Excellent entertainment now
Wrens have at last fledged.
Yet the work requires a return to
wearing boots after long months flopping around in the sort of footwear
Episcopalians and Baptists disapprove of. But when left to their
own devices through periods of warm weather boots become habitat.
And long periods of warm weather incline the mind to forgetfulness.

I actually reminded myself, as I uncovered the
boots, that this time last year there were Wooly Bears hiding in them and
the rash they gave me itched for days. And I actually convinced
myself that this year no such thing would happen.
Perhaps next year.
